Olin Ward Sibert, the son of William Joshua Sibert and Marietta Ward, was born on 23 December 1878 in Alabama. [1][2][3] He died on 27 February 1941, aged 62, in Selma, Dallas County, Alabama. [1][2][4][5] He married Emily Walker on 20 December 1905 in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. [1][3] Emily, the daughter of Thomas P. and Frances (Jones) Walker was born on 18 May 1881 in Pennsylvania. [1][2][3] She died on 17 June 1969, aged 88, in Gadsden. [1][2][5][6] Olin and Emily are buried in the Forrest Cemetery in Gadsden, Etowah County, Alabama. [2]

Olin was a soldier in the Spanish-American War. He enlisted in Company C of the First Alabama Infantry on 8 August 1898 and was discharged on 31 October 1898. He filed for a pension on 26 June 1930. [7]

In June 1900, Olin W. was living with his parents in Gadsden and working as a salesman. [8]

At the time of their marriage, both Olin and Emily lived in Elizabeth, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Olin was a clerk. [3]

Olin bought what was said to be the largest home furnishings establishment in Alabama in August 1907. [9]

On 18 April 1910, Olin W., aged 30, and Emily, aged 25, lived in a rented house in Gadsden with the son William, aged two, and their daughter Nancy, aged two months. They had been married for four years, and had had two children. Emily was born in Pennsylvania; everyone else was born in Alabama. Olin was a hardware merchant. [8]

In 1912, Olin and Emily lived at 933 Third Avenue in Gadsden. They had a store that sold china and glassware on 429 Broad Street. [10]

Sibert [the widow of William L. Sibert]. The widow Eliz. Bairnsfather was visiting. Olen was the owner of a hardware company. [8]

Olin was apparently a member of the Episcopalian Church of the Holy Comforter in Gadsden. [5]

Olin was found dead—apparently of a heart attack—in bed in a hotel room in Selma. He was survived by his wife Emily Walker Sibert and his son W.J. Sibert, both of Gadsden. [4]

On 8 April 1950, Emily, a 68-year-old widow, lived with her son William J. and his family in the family house on 933 Third Avenue. [8]
